Users

A user has access to sites, files, and databases within a workspace. Each user is assigned a role, which sets limitations on what they are able to change inside the workspace. Users are managed inside your settings.

Managing users

Only workspace Owners and Admins can manage users. To add users to your workspace, enter one or more emails (separated by commas) in the form at the top right of the Users view. You can also set the user's role when inviting them.

Users invited to a workspace will receive an email containing a link to accept the invite. They'll be redirected to Makeswift to finalize the invite process. If this is the user's first time using Makeswift, they'll need to create an account after clicking the link in the invite email. Existing users must be logged in with the matching email address that was invited.

While a user's invite is pending, the workspace Owner or Admins can resend the invitation email, or cancel the invite. Ownership can be transferred by the current owner to any user who has accepted an invite to the workspace.

Users can be removed from a workspace using the role dropdown found to the right of each user.

Roles

There are 4 user roles that have different permissions set for each. The following is a breakdown of each role and it's permissions:

Owners and Admins

Owners and Admins share almost the exact same permissions, the only difference being that Owners cannot be removed from a workspace. Owners and Admins have full access to a workspace and can do the following:

  • Manage users
  • View and manage billing
  • Connect a custom host
  • Edit a site's theme
  • Publish page edits
  • Build and edit page content and layout
  • Edit database tables

Publishers

Publishers have access to anything related to site content and can do the following:

  • Connect a custom host
  • Edit a site's theme
  • Publish page edits
  • Build and edit page content and layout
  • Edit database tables

Editors

Editors can build and edit page content and layout, but cannot publish any changes that affect live pages. They cannot update a site's theme and cannot make changes to a database table.
